Hiding Behind the Laughter©

I Laugh

Hoping not to cry

Because my tears don’t lie

They tell the unwanted stories

That my lips dare not say

If I hold up my head and open my eyes

You may just see what hides behind them

For now

My head hangs low

Waiting for just the right joke

Just the right story

Just the right tickle

That will make me

Light up like the fourth of July

or Cackle like there’s no tomorrow

Someday I know I will break out

And will no longer Hide Behind The Laughter
