Camping

Walking silently through the woods

But there is no real silence

With each step

The earth crunches

The twigs crackle

The birds chatter

The owl’s hoot

The ocean ripples

The wind whispers

Silence is not to be found here

Still

It’s peaceful

Inviting

Enticing

Soothing

And

Therapeutic

When the night falls

We wait to gaze upon the star lit sky

The moon gleaming down upon our camp site

Giving the feel of comfort

A sense of unspoken security

We enjoy roasting marshmallows

And

Making S’mores

Telling scores of stories

Some with just words to pass the night hours

Some truly scary

So much so we run for cover

Into the warmth of our oversized tents

We fall asleep quickly

To forget our fears

The morning comes quicker than we want

And

We know the fun has all but ended

Time to close up

And

Head back to our everyday life

Until the next we camp again
