Growing a Friendship

I extended my hand 🤚

But you would not take it

I offered you bread 🍞

But you would not eat

I passed you my cup

But you would not drink 🍷

I asked if you needed a friend

You said loneliness is a better companion

I bow my head vowing not to give up

So I take their hand

I give them my bread

And share my wine

I have hope that their heart will soften

And that they’ll see that friendship

Could be the difference they’ve always needed in their life

True friendship can last forever

Be open to what it has to offer

Don’t turn your back to it

Believe in it

Don’t close the door to it

Keep your mind and heart open

Friendship will come and grow
